HMS Maori is a very popular diving spot in Malta and is the most shallow one on the Island. It is a World War II wreck that is suitable for every diver, including novice ones.
Maori sits on a sandy bottom at 16 metres below sea level, and is 115 metres in length. It was originally a British destroyer that sank in February 1942 in the Grand Harbour of Valletta as a result of a German air raid attack. In 1945 the wreck was moved to its current position in St.Elmo Bay, Valletta.
There are many exciting swim throughs and holes in which divers can explore and investigate. It is an incredible dive for everyone, but especially for those interested in Malta’s fascinating wartime history.
